SBA CHRISTMAS 2011
Summary:
The season will start on Friday 2nd Dec with the turning on of the Christmas tree lights in Warrior Square.
There will be carol singers, roast chestnuts and publicity for the rest of the SBA activities leading up to Christmas.
Over the next weeks the Christmas activities will be down to individual traders, centred around:
- Bran Tubs in shops
- Spot the Stranger competition
- Best window competition
- Individual events as done by shop/trader, (help with publicity available)
Prizes given out for competitions: (17th Dec?)
- Spot the Stranger
- Best Window
The Christmas Tree
The tree will be organized by The Friends of Warrior Square, and there will be carol singers, roast chestnuts and fun at the bottom of Warrior Square.
Bran Tubs
Tubs with packaging filling (provided by Helen, Plenty) to be filled with prizes/vouchers etc as individual shops choose.
Tubs will be available at cost, with festive (SBA) decorative sticker. The sticker indicates the shop is participating in Spot the Stranger which increases the footfall, and attention paid to window.
This is a low cost high impact activity which can be suited to individual shops, and has a traditional, old fashioned Christmas feel.
Spot the Stranger
Another traditional activity, which makes people examine windows and shop interiors closely.
Each shop has something that does not belong in that shop, shown in the window. Pre- printed forms are available and people/kids fill out what doesn’t belong in what shops.
Prizes awarded to winners, (say 15+ best) after announcement on 17th Dec
Best Dressed Window
This is done every year to encourage a St Leonards feel to all the Xmas decorations. There are some lights from last year, otherwise people are encouraged to buy their own.
No theme has been settled on.
Other Events
As individual shops and traders wish. Where possible help with publicity will be given, although this will be largely limited to the websites, Facebook and local PR.
